[edit]

(注:打开编辑页面后,您在上方看到的“LIST OF NOMINATIONS (Put your nominations to the TOP of this section (after this comment))”大意为“这里是候选图片列表,请将您的提名提交到本节的顶部(在本行后)”;您在下方看到的“DO NOT ADD NEW NOMINATIONS ABOVE THIS LINE, BUT ON TOP”大意为“不要在本行上方添加新的贴士(除了顶部)”。 )

[edit]

[edit]

Thank you very much for your thoughtful input! --The Cosmonaut (talk)
  •  Oppose Sorry, I don't care how metaphorical the photo is and it's not easily recognizable for the average viewer, the quality (detail) is low for such a normal range photo and the wow-factor is eluding me. --Cart (talk) 14:20, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How amazing is that an average viewer finally has a champion to speak for them! --The Cosmonaut (talk) 18:34, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Obsolete is some ways, but not gone. The USSR is the formal successor of the Russian Empire. And the Russian Federation is the legal successor of the USSR. So there is a degree of continuity in a dimension of time. Here are all three major flags that have been used over the last 330+ years of history of the RE/USSR/RF: File:Флагштоки возле парка 300-летия Санкт-Петербурга. 2024. 05.jpg, Category:Flagpoles (Park 300 Years of Saint Petersburg). Who knows, maybe there will be a fourth one in the next 100 years or so. Or, we could just reuse the flags we already have in cycles with little or no alterations. That black-dark blue-yellow-white one looks really nice. --Argenberg (talk) 11:00, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, fog and humidity always eat up visible detail through diffusion, diffraction and polarization. I took another look at the image. The quality of the original copy is good for a 24MP image, fog-wise. There’s tons of fine detail in both the skyscraper and the trees. You might just consider taking the original, denoising the sky and applying a delicate high-frequency sharpening mask on everything else. --Argenberg (talk) 11:00, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Masked trogon (Trogon personatus temperatus) male
I concur. Argasidae I believe. Needsmoreritalin (talk) 22:30, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Argasidae seem to be mainly Asian family. The trogon is a big bird, so it would be a huge tick. I don't think I can add it to the Ixodida article till we are more sure. Anyone? Charlesjsharp (talk) 08:41, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Huge ticks are not surprising to me. I could find ticks as big as my thumb nail on my cat if she had been out in the forest on one of her long treks over a few days. This one (unfortunately) looks very familiar. --Cart (talk) 14:48, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wolf spider (Aglaoctenus castaneus) on web
Gallery fixed. There may be no FP of this genus, but that gallery is so far for Families and that one exists. Also no idea what you were up to here blanking the new category you created. I've noticed that you are starting to make a lot of mistakes with things like this, so perhaps you should leave such things to coders here. Just post your noms and we'll take care of the "boring" sorting stuff for you. --Cart (talk) 19:07, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment Not sure the stacking is working so well here. There are an awful lot of "shadows/halos" from un-sharp parts of the stacked photos and the stacking goes in and out all over the image. Might be less confusing working with less photos in the stack. --Cart (talk) 19:13, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment A 3D spider's web is the most challenging subject for focus-stacking I know. Try it. Working with less photos doesn't work I'm afraid. And more photos doesn't help either. There is a huge amount of manual cloning needed to create sharp threads that aren't in any of the stack, but you have to stop somewhere. In time the AI models will improve. I happen to think the composition with its random threads works OK. Incidentally, the focus-stacking here is many times more challenging than the recent on the recent 2D web with male and female spiders. And have a closer look at the lovely FP nom of two damselflies. The spiders webs just stop in mid air! Charlesjsharp (talk) 21:40, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I know that spiderwebs are a nightmare to stack and that you are doing as well as you can. Believe me, I actually have tried focus stacking spiderwebs and I just gave up since it was so darn difficult to get things to line up and not give off halos. That's why I think it might not be the best way to photograph these kind of things. Couldn't you concentrate the stacking on just the spider and let the net fade in and out of Dof like in a normal photo? Just brainstorming ideas here. Btw, the spiderwebs "ending" in midair is a usual phenomena depending on how the light and shadow hits them and whatever moisture is on them. I think every nature photographer have seen them appear and disappear in their photos. --Cart (talk) 22:08, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The image captures the iconic Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) statue towering over Rio de Janeiro in a breathtaking panoramic shot from above. Recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the statue stands as one of Brazil’s most famous landmarks. Taken from a striking aerial perspective, the photo highlights the city's unique landscape, set between mountains and the bay, with exceptional lighting that enhances the interplay of light and shadow. This photograph was awarded first place in the "Wiki Loves Monuments 2025" contest.
